Dixie State University presents ‘Lindstrom’ art exhibit
November 23, 2016St. George, Utah — Featuring pieces completed throughout artist Gaell Lindstrom’s seven-decade long career, the Dixie State University Sears Art Museum Gallery hosts “Lindstrom,” a retrospective exhibition of the art of the globetrotter, mentor, painter, potter and photographer. Showcasing a variety of mediums, this free show will be open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Nov. 28 through Jan. 13, excluding holidays. A reception will be held Dec. 2 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. to celebrate the opening of the exhibit. Admission is free, and the gallery is located in the Dolores Doré Eccles Fine Arts Center on the Dixie State campus. “Gaell Lindstrom left behind a legacy of art, and consequently many fine artists have been influenced by his teaching,” Kathy Cieslewicz, curator of the Sears Art Museum Gallery, said. “We are pleased to present a collection of his earliest work as a young person to his later grand works, showing his progress as an artist. Our thanks go out to his son, Braden Lindstrom, a DSU assistant professor, and his family and friends who were willing to share their prized possessions for our viewers to enjoy." A well-known Utah State University art professor and award-winning artist, Lindstrom mastered a variety of mediums but is best known for his watercolors. The show will feature photography, paintings, ceramics and drawings. The Sears Art Museum Gallery features six exhibits each year. Offering a variety of art styles from traditional to contemporary, the gallery exists for the enjoyment and education of Dixie State University students and the community.
