“Nunset Boulevard” shows at Dixie State University

Dixie State University Theatre presents “Nunset Boulevard,” a hilarious musical comedy sequel to the original acclaimed musical comedy, “Nunsense.

Written by Dan Goggin, “Nunset Boulevard” will show in the Eccles Fine Arts Center Black Box at 7:30 p.m. on April 6–8, and April 11-15.

“There has never been a better time to celebrate the talented women of DSU’s Theater department,” Mark Houser, an assistant professor of Theater and Film at DSU, said. “The cast is phenomenal; the spirit they bring to these characters and the bond they have built with each other makes this show an instant success.”

“Nunset Boulevard” tells the story of the Little Sisters of Hoboken, who have been invited to sing at the famed Hollywood Bowl, but once they arrive, they realize they are booked to perform at the Hollywood Bowl-A-Rama instead — a bowling alley with a cabaret lounge.  Upon hearing that auditions are being held for a movie musical called “Nunset Boulevard,” they recognize that landing a part in it would be natural; however, this forces them to contemplate their true calling.

The show is filled with interesting characters and songs that cover numerous genres including cabaret, hip-hop, country and soul. Hilarious lines are weaved throughout the musical, along with impressions, quizzes and games meant to draw audience participation. This comedy musical has been rated PG and may not be suitable for children.

General admission is $10, but local discounts are available when purchased in person. To purchase tickets, visit dsutix.com, call 435-652-7800 or pick them up at the DSU Box Office.
