Congressman Chris Stewart to speak at Dixie State University’s Veterans Day Ceremony

ST. GEORGE, Utah — United States Congressman Chris Stewart will join Dixie State University in honoring veterans in the DSU and St. George communities as the guest speaker of  the Veterans Success Center’s annual Veterans Day Ceremony this year.

The Veterans Day Ceremony will be held on Monday, Nov. 11. at 11 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial on Dixie State University’s North Encampment Mall. The event will kick off with the presentation of the colors by cadets from Dixie High School’s Jr. ROTC. In addition to Congressman Stewart’s presentation, Spencer Thatcher, a current DSU student and outreach coordinator for the Veterans Success Center, will also speak at the event.

Directly following the Veterans Memorial Ceremony, a cake-cutting celebration will take place in celebration of the Marine Corps’ 244th birthday.

"It is a great opportunity to have Congressman Stewart join us in remembering the sacrifices of past and current veterans," shared veteran student Josh Flinton. “We are excited to have him here for Veterans Day as well as our Marine Corps birthday celebration.”

Congressman Stewart is from Utah's Second Congressional District. As a congressman, he serves as a senior member on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, the House Appropriations Committee and the House Budget Committee. He is also a New York Times best-selling and national award-winning author, world-record-setting Air Force pilot and the former owner of a small business.

DSU’s Veterans Success Center offers veteran and military students and their family members assistance in support of their educational experience. “We want to ensure that our veterans have all the advantages and services available to them so they can achieve their academic goals here at Dixie State University,” Veterans Success Center Outreach Coordinator Spencer Thatcher said.
