Dixie State University to host Pumpkin Carving Class, Trailblazer Tricks & Treats Night

Featuring fall traditions, games and lots of candy, Dixie State University’s annual Trailblazer Tricks & Treats Night is set to usher in Halloween weekend.

“Fall is an amazing time of year on the Dixie State University campus, and we love having our community join us in celebrating the Halloween season,” Megan Church, director of university events and promotions, said. “The community’s support is integral to the success of Dixie State and hosting a couple of fun evenings is a small way the university shows our appreciation to the community for all they do.”

The festivities will kick off with a Pumpkin Carving Class on Oct. 27 in the University Plaza Building C parking lot, located at 1071 E. 100 South. Check-in starts at 6 p.m. and the class starts at 6:30 with a demonstration. The class will feature tips and tricks for creating jack-o’-lantern masterpieces. Following the demonstration, participants will carve their own pumpkins while enjoying treats.

Attendees can then choose to leave their pumpkins to be featured in the Trailblazer Tricks & Treats Night Pumpkin Walk on Oct. 29. Advance registration for the Pumpkin Carving Class is required and is $5 at utahtech.edu/halloween.

The celebration will culminate with Trailblazer Tricks & Treats Night from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 29 on the North Encampment Mall on the Dixie State campus. Dixie State student-athletes will offer trick-or-treating at trunk-or-treat booths throughout the night. Additionally, jack-o’-lanterns created during the Pumpkin Carving Class and other community entries will be featured in the Pumpkin Walk.

Offering the community the opportunity to walk down the runway and show off their costumes, the Alumni Association will host Costume Fashion Shows at 6, 6:30 and 7 p.m. Prizes will be awarded at each show. The College of Science, Engineering & Technology also will host games and activities, featuring everything from making slime to creating ghost bubbles. Tractor rides, prizes and food will round out the evening.

“Featuring so many fun games and activities, Trailblazer Tricks & Treats Night will be a fun evening that you won’t want to miss,” Church said. “Kids and adults of all ages will find the perfect activity to celebrate Halloween and experience the ‘active learning. active life.’ experience Dixie State is so well known for.”
